Earlier today a brand new English trailer for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y was released introducing us to the first Kalos Gym Leader and four brand new Pokémon. The first Gym Leader we meet in Kalos is Viola who is a Bug Type Gym Leader and runs the Gym in Santalune City, the Gym features the spider web puzzle we saw in the very first trailer for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. Our starting town has also been revealed and goes by the name of Vaniville Town, this town is also where three of our childhood friends live, Shauna, Tierno and Trevour.
Of course likely the biggest news is the reveal of four brand new Pokémon who are as follows:
Flaébé who is a Fairy Type Pokémon and knows the Fairy Type move Fairy Wind. The Pokémon isn't actually part of the flower, it's just so tiny that it needs to keep a hold of it at all times.
Next up we have Litleo a Fire and Normal Type Pokémon who is based off of a lion cub. Litleo knows the new move Noble Roar which lowers the targets Attack and Sp. Attack stat.
Next up we have a Bug Type Pokémon called Scatterbug who knows the move String Shot and evolves into Spewpa whom you can see below.
Lastly of course we have Spewpa who is another Bug Type Pokémon who evolves from Scatterbug and then into the recently revealed Vivillon.
As many will know, yesterday a special presentation for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y was happening at E3 and the official Pokémon Twitter account were kind enough to Tweet some of the news as it was being revealed. Not surprisingly, quite a lot of details were revealed during the event, along with three more brand new Pokémon!
First off lets talk about some of the game features; a new system for finding players to battle and trade with though local wireless and Wi-Fi has been revealed and goes by the name of the Player Search System. The system won't be replacing the GTS, as that feature is still included in the game, the PSS will also sync to your 3DS' friend list. Two new types of batting were also introduced in the form of Sky Battles and Horde Encounters, the first of which only allowing you to use Flying type Pokémon and the second making you play a 1 vs 5 Battle, which is sure to be tough! For those of you who battle with your friends a lot it has also been revealed that you'll be able to choose the music that is played during the battle, which certainly sounds interesting.
A short trailer was released early this morning which shows off some of the new features:
The event also introduced us to three brand new Pokémon who are as follows:
Skrelp, a Poison and Water Type Pokémon who is seemingly based off of a seahorse.
Talonflame, a Fire and Flying Type Pokémon seemingly based off of a bird of prey. Talonflame is the evolved form of Fletchling.
And lastly we have Clauncher, a Water type Pokémon.
It's also worth noting that this months edition of Japanese magazine CoroCoro has started to leak and is bringing us even more new Pokémon, so we'll round all that news up for you soon!
Pokémon X & Y News Revealed Through Nintendo Direct
As many Nintendo fans know, today marked a big day for the company as they released their E3, Wii U focused, Nintendo Direct. However, before getting into the swing of showing off Wii U titles, they decided to treat Pokémon fans with a brand new trailer for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. The trailer can be seen below:
The trailer introduced us to two brand new Pokémon, the first of which being Noivern a Dragon and Flying type Pokémon who has a fondness for fruit and can use the new move Boomburst which deals damage to all nearby Pokémon.
The second new Pokémon to be introduced is a Flying and Bug Type Pokémon called Vivilion. This is yet another bug Pokémon who is seemingly based off of a butterfly.
The trailer also revealed that a brand new Pokémon Type will be introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, this Type will be known as the Fairy Type and we so far know that Sylveon, Jigglypuff, Marill and Gardevoir will all be this type. We also know that Sylveon knows a new Fairy type move called Moonblast which is a powerful attack that can also lower the targets Attack stat.
Lastly, but by no means least, a brand new feature has been confirmed for the games called Pokémon-Amie which sees players being able to interact with the Pokémon in their party and feed, pet, and play with them in order to make the bonds and friendship between you grow!
It was also confirmed that the two games will be seeing their worldwide release on the 12th of October.
That might not seem like a lot of news, but it's worth keeping in that the Pokémon X and Y round-table event will be happening at E3 at 2am tonight and considering the official Pokémon Twitter account will be Tweeting from it, we can only assume that there is a little more news to come!
Our server is officially registered with the owners of Pokémon Showdown. Our URL is http://pokemonworld.psim.us. This should now mean that the ladders and replays work on our server as well as a few tweaks to how it runs in the background.
Over the coming weeks I plan to be migrating the server to a new host to ensure the security and stability of the server. I also have plans for a ladder competition (Details to come when I sort them out).
If you have any ideas/improvements to the server tell me and I will look into putting them into effect.
As many Nintendo fans will already know, this year is the year Nintendo has decided to step away from the E3 limelight and move towards giving us details through their Nintendo Direct news service. However, an interesting announcement has been made for Pokémon fans today with Nintendo revealing that they'll be hosting a Pokémon X and Pokémon Y presentation at E3 ran by Junichi Masuda and Tsunekazu Ishihara. The presentation will also include a questions and answers segment.
The event will be hosted on the 11th of June at 6PM pacific time (2AM for those of us in the UK), after Nintendo release their latest edition of Nintendo Direct and the whole thing will last 90 minutes. It currently isn't clear to if any of the information from the presentation will be released by Nintendo, however rumours have been going around stating that a new edition of Nintendo Direct spin-off, Pokémon Direct, will be released sometime during early June, so chances are we'll still have some Pokémon X and Pokémon Y related news around E3 time!
After the latest leaks of Japanese magazine CoroCoro we were pretty spoilt with Pokémon news and weren't expecting more until the weekend. However, this morning the official English site for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y updated with a ton of new details to do with the two games and also brought us a brand new trailer which can be seen below:
The trailer shows off a couple of cites/towns in the two games, one of which is Lumiose City (known as Miare City in Japan), and is a town central to the Kalos Region. We also know that Lumiose City is the city where players will be able to ride on the goat Pokémon, Gogoat. The full Kalos regional map can be seen below:
Along with learning more about the Kalos region we've also learnt more about the four Pokémon which were revealed by the CoroCoro leaks, along with their English names.
To start off with the new bird Pokémon known as Yayakoma in Japan will be going by the name of Fletchling in English and is confirmed to know Flame Charge. Fletchling's design is based off of a Japanese robin.
The lizard like Pokémon who is known as Elikiteru in Japan will be going by the name of Helioptile in English and knows a new move called Parabolic Charge (Parabola Charge in Japan), which restores a users HP by half the damage it deals to the opponent.
Yancham the panda like Pokémon who has quickly become a favourite among Pokémon fans will be going by the name of Pancham in English and knows the move Parting Shot (known as Parting Remark in Japan), which lowers both an opponents Attack and Special Attack before Pancham switches out for another Pokémon which should be quite interesting for competitive players.
Finally, the other fan favourite Pokémon from Pokémon X and Pokémon Y Gogoat will be keeping its Japanese name and be called Gogoat in the English games as well.
Smaller details we've learnt are as follows:
Trainers will be able to customize their trainer with new outfits and accessories during their adventures in Kalos, although to just what extent is we'll be able to customize our avatar is currently unclear.
The regional Pokédex for Kalos will register Pokémon in one of three different area categories.
A few screenshots seem to show that players will finally be able to walk diagonally.
It looks like trainer battle intros will be animated as shown below:
That's it for what we've learnt today, but we certainly seem to be learning quite a lot about these games and the Pokémon in the region as time goes on, hopefully Saturday's edition of Pokémon Smash will bring us even more news!
Rumour: Pokémon Smash Hinting Towards Sylveon's Type?
Note: Before we get into this article please remember that this is purely speculation based on yesterdays episode of Japanese TV show Pokémon Smash and that nothing has been officially confirmed one way or the other. However it is highly worth noting, which is why we're doing so.
During yesterdays episode of Pokémon Smash there was a segment centred around the new Eeveelution Sylveon where the hosts were trying to work out just what type this new Pokémon could be. From watching the footage, and some translation and insight from our friends over at Bulbagarden, the segment of Pokémon Smash seems to have given out two key details to do with Sylveon's typing.
Firstly it seems as though Sylveon is strong against Ice-types, and secondly the Pokémon seems to be weak against Poison-type moves. This means that unless Sylveon is a duel-type (making it the first of the Eeveelution's to be so if it is), then it has to be a brand new type as none of the current Pokémon types are Super-effective against Ice while also being weak to Poison. It isn't to say that the type would only be strong against Ice and weak to Poison either, chances are it'll be strong and weak against a couple of other things, but as Pokémon Smash is mostly aimed at kids they likely don't want to make things too complex, nor give too much away. However the segment also showed that Sylveon doesn't seem to be a Fighting-type, but nor does it seem to be weak to that type.
If you want to watch the footage from Pokémon Smash yourself then you can find it right here, it should start at the part which features the Eeveelution segment, but if not then it's about 40 minutes in. Again nothing has been officially confirmed, but it's still worth noting, especially when next weeks edition of Pokémon Smash is a Pokémon X and Pokémon Y special.
The latest issue of Japanese magazine CoroCoro has leaked this afternoon and brought with it the reveal of four brand new sixth generation Pokémon along with a couple of interesting details to do with Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
Starting off with the four new Pokémon pictured in the scan above, we have a red bird Pokémon called Yayakoma, who is based off of a Japanese Robin, and is a Flying and Normal type Pokémon. It, amusingly enough, can learn the move Flame Charge.
Next up we have the panda looking Pokémon, Yanchamu who is a Fighting type Pokémon, it's also confirmed to know a brand new move called Sharp Remark.
The third Pokémon is lizard-like Pokémon called Elikiteru who is an Electric and Normal type Pokémon. Elikiteru also knows a new move going called Parabola Charge which deals damage to opponents while also letting the user recover some HP.
The fourth Pokémon to be revealed by the magazine is a goat-like Pokémon going by the name of Gogoat who is a Grass type which knows the move Horn Leech. The scan also shows the player being able to ride on Gogoat in the game, however the BulbaNewsNow Twitter account is reporting that you can only ride Gogoat in a location called Miare City, which is the city with the large tower which was shown in the Pokémon X and Pokémon Y trailer when they were first revealed and can be found in the centre of the region. The scan also gives us a look at the Pokédex for this generation which seems to have a very tablet like design.
The second scan shows us the male and female playable characters and confirms that we'll be able to change a character's skin, eye and hair colour, and which isn't as much change as we might have wanted, but it's certainly a nice change. The scan also confirmed the region's name and gave us a look at the map. Pokémon X and Pokémon Y will be based in the Karos Region, which is based off of France.
The final scan, so far, from the magazine showed off the Japanese boxart for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.
CoroCoro is still being leaked and new details keep being translated, and while this is likely all of the big news, we will keep updating the article as small bits of info get confirmed, so keep checking back!
